In-Service Withdrawal
James Merklinghaus

I want to discuss the process of withdrawing funds from your 401(k) and rolling them over to an IRA. This is called an in-service withdrawal as you may know the age of 59 1/2 is significant in this regard.

Once you reach the age of 59 1/2, you become eligible to withdraw funds from your 401(k) without incurring any early withdrawal penalties. This means that you can start accessing your retirement savings and consider other investment options.

One popular option is to rollover your 401(k) funds into an IRA (individual retirement account). This allows you to maintain the tax advantages of your retirement savings while gaining more control over your investment choices.

To initiate the rollover process I will need to contact your 401(k) provider and inform them about your intention to withdraw funds. JM wealth management will guide you through the necessary steps and provide you with the required paperwork. We will assist you in setting up the IRA and transferring the funds from your 401(k).

Please call us with any questions, or if you need assistance with the withdrawal and roll over process. I can be reached at JM Wealth Management, 888-949-0525.
